Artist's Comments

All of the computers at school reset at random times, so the clocks on them are never accurate and you need the admin passwords to change the date and time. In addition, the Media Communications half-of-what-used-to-be-the-old-library only has one wall clock which is in one of the faculty offices. Further compouning this is the fact that no one wears a watch and half the time everybody's phones are off since they've just come from the TV studio.

To make a long story longer, i was fed up and decided to make my own clock and hang it in the computer lab above the printers where a digital picture frame used to be but has since disappeared to parts unknown.

Materials used include an old Marlboro clock, old Minolta lens spinning display for the simulated pendullum, CDs, DVDs, Disney Christmas LP, vacuum tubes, PCMs, and electromagnetic shielding.

Expecting the unexpected makes the unexpected expected. Meeting someone is fate. Being their friend, a choice. Falling in love is always unexpected but only if the expected is unexpected which makes the expected unexpected.

wow thats just so weird that you made a clock that looks like that. seriously, when i was like 14, and really wasnt interested in being an artist- or didn't know i was artistic or anything- but knew i was creative in odd ways and enjoyed just randomly gluing things together- i drew up plans for almost the exacttttt same clock. it was back in the era that aol sent all those free useless free trial cds to our house in the mail. i was tired of using them as frisbees and it just seemed wasteful to throw them out. my dad is an electrical engineer and at the time he employed my tiny hands with the tedious job of sticking all the resistors in the right holes before saudering them. so i also had all these scrap circuit board parts lying around. yeah that was pretty much a needlessly long explanation- but the thing is i only drew up plans for the clock. i never actually got around to building it. then i saw you posted this on your deviantart and i was like "wow thats just truly bizarre that someone would build something almost exactly like i planned it". it almost made me wonder if i had ever mentioned it to you in the past. i dont see why i would have. i guess great minds think alike?

in retrospect tho, the clock isn't very easy to read with both the lp and its hands being black. maybe if the hands were a different color? white perhaps? or even some obnoxious neon color. something that contrasts with the face of the clock.
