5 Octopus Fork Necklace by Doctor-Gus 5 Octopus Fork Necklace by Doctor-Gus
Hello all,

Took a break from making stuff for a while in order to study and subsequently bomb all of my final exams. It shouldn't be too large of a problem since they were all from the same professor and he curves very generously (if not, everybody else from class is in the same boat).

In conclusion, i've a managerie of wonderful pieces to share over the following indeterminate period of days.

Furthermore, in conclusion, i present for your approval the above piece, entitled "5 Octopus Fork Necklace", which was originally intended to be "4 Octopus Fork Necklace" but is now the former due to obvious circumstances. After putting holes in the center fork i immediately thought "octopus", and that's as good a reason as any for a name.

Finally, in conclusion, i need to think of names more imaginative than "octopus this-and-that" to title the following series or this may get annoyingly monotonous.

This, and many more, available in My ETSY shop.

I wouldn't have thought these where forks just looking at them. I think it's great how you took them and made them look like completely ... nothing like a fork. Beautiful too, I might go try this with some old forks of mine, dunno if I have the tools though, :/

OMG!!! That's utterly, utterly amazing! O___O! And to think that you did that with forks?!?!?!? Wow... I would so totally want one of those!!! *giggles* Amazing job! I wish I could offer some critique, but I don't know much about metalworking!

If there are 5 otopus wouldn't that make it like a quadrodecapus?
Reply
:icondoctor-gus:
Doctor-Gus Featured By Owner Dec 17, 2007  Professional Artisan Crafter
no sir, because we're talking about 5 separate individual octopi, not one single octopus who has 5 tentacles, even though these have 4 anyway.

:iconvermillieouse:
Vermillieouse Featured By Owner Dec 17, 2007
Well, they're all attached, so if you count the chains connecting them as tentacles and each one has 4, that's 26, so wouldn't that make it a duodecahexapus?

thanks, it's very encouraging to hear that. That's exactly what i was going for, classy and contemporary. I need to find someone to go to the opera with now...actually, i need to find an opera first. But i do have some old folding opera glasses somewhere....

And I love the Octpus line anyhow. How do you bend the forks without marring them with scratches, if you don't mind telling?

In fact, i do mind telling. It's like my Secret Sauce. I have a bunch of pliers and vices that i've filed into different shapes which help. And no matter what the forks scratched anyway, so i file an grind and polish them a lot afterward. I also didn't take pictures of all the forks i wrecked and snapped before i got five good ones...
